You could be forgiven for thinking that things have slowed down in the past five years, in the world of technology.

Steve Jobs resigns as Apple’s CEO due to health reasons on August 24, and dies on October 5, aged 56.
Pinterest is made available to everyone August 10.
On August 25 the Voyager 1 spacecraft, which launched in 1977 enters Interstellar space. This feat makes it the first human spacecraft to leave our solar system or travel farther than 11 billion miles from Earth.
YouTube breaks an Internet record as more than 8 million concurrent live viewers watch Felix Baumgartner break his own record by jumping from the edge of space (128,100 feet) on October 15.
The hacktivist group Anonymous is named one of the ‘100 most influential people’ in the world by Time Magazine.
Apple introduces the iPad mini October 23.
Microsoft announces in February that it will be moving away from Hotmail brand and begin moving over 300 million users to the new Outlook.com e-mail service.
Sony officially announces the PlayStation 4, a replacement for the PS3 gaming console on February 20.
The trojan virus Cryptolocker is discovered in September.
Microsoft announces on September 30 the next version of Windows, which will be called Windows 10.
On October 1 a Japanese man is sentenced to two years in prison for manufacturing 3D printed guns. He becomes the first person to serve time for a 3D printed gun.
Apple introduces the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch September 9.
China ends its gaming console ban after 15 years on July 25.
Apple officially releases the Apple Watch on April 24.
